Patience, I need you!

Patient

I want you to close your eyes and think of someone, it could be more than one, that annoys you. Maybe, it’s the ways she speaks, the way she acts, the way she dresses, the way she responds to your rebuke and corrections, maybe she’s a bully or it is simply her attitude. Now, do you have someone in mind? (I DO)

Then, think of the different situations wherein somehow the Lord brought you two together and you have to deal with this person, how did you respond? Are you the type of woman who fights back when hurt, are you the type who lashes out and as the world calls it, do you “DO YOU SPEAK YOUR MIND” ?

There’s a saying that goes, “Where there are people, there are problems”

I am very sure that everyone agrees with that! Everyday, you will certainly meet someone of a different personality, some of which are annoying or irritating, and you just can’t stand the sight of them. BUT , taking it in another perspective, you may be that type of personality to others as well. You may be the one causing problem too! So here’s a verse that we should keep in mind:

COLOSSIANS 3:12-13

 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

The Bible says, as Christians, no matter what the situation, good or bad, no matter how annoying that girl is, we are to be…. PATIENT.

Yes! That may be one thing that you’ve been wanting to have since day 1, PATIENCE! Oh, how badly everyone needs it!

Sometimes, it doesn’t make sense but always remember that patience is needed most when it is exhausted. You cannot exercise patience on someone that you are in good terms with, you’re going to need it to that person on your mind as we did our meditation awhile ago.

And if you notice, the one you hate most is sometimes the one who’s always around. The Lord knows our weaknesses and if lack of patience is one of them, He would lead us to these people to able to exercise our patience. So whenever you see her, take it as a training ground from the Lord.:)

You may be getting a little discouraged as you read but hey, there’s hope for us, Christian women! PATIENCE is one of the Fruit of the Spirit, right? So those who walk in the Spirit will have the fruit of the Spirit.

BUT HOW CAN SOMEONE WALK IN THE SPIRIT??

To walk in the Spirit means to abide by the Spirit.

To abide by the Spirit means that you live under His authority.

To live under His authority means you obey His Voice.

To obey His voice, you need to know what He says.

To know what He says, you need to read His Word.

Basically, you will be patient if you realize that it is a COMMAND from God, it is not an option for us ladies!

It’s easier said than done, why? ’cause you’re still in the flesh and as Galatians 5:17 gives us a picture of FLESH vs. SPIRIT, it is a moment by moment battle. YOU CHOOSE WHICH TO FEED, your SPIRIT or your FLESH. CHOOSE TO WALK IN THE SPIRIT and eventually the fruit of the Spirit will show in your life, that includes PATIENCE, my dear girls! 🙂

It takes time, yes, but it takes discipline, your will and the Spirit to help you deal with these people. The patience that you badly need to handle difficult people is dependent on your obedience to the Lord.

I have an exercise that I am currently using my discipleship group. I call it the “WEEKLY PATIENCE METER“, you are free to download it and use it (just click on the link below), make sure to share it with someone so you will be accountable to your own progress. Thanks for reading! 🙂
