I recommend book 1 (lies women believe) to women who wants to know more about the lies and deception that we usually believe in. I personally like Nancy Leigh DeMoss, how she uses words and illustrations. I have several other books from her and although this isn’t my favorite, I still recommend this because there are only a few books that gives out the real issues behind discontentment, discouragement, and eventually straying away from God. Lies Women Believe, by the help of God’s Word, will give us hope to be free from the bondage of sin.
This book is a lot harder to comprehend than the first but books as thick as this have a lot of diamonds waiting to be discovered, you just have to continue to dig in. I’ve learned a lot from the history of the church, how it started, people who risked their lives for the sake of Christ, small compromise leads into big theological errors when they are not corrected at once. I believe I was able to get a wider scope of Christianity throughout the centuries with this book and I saw God’s sovereignty over everything that has happened from the 1st century of Christians up to today.

From Philippians 4:6-7
Mga pagsubok tila laging natatanaw
Sa buhay ng tao, sa araw-araw
Mga pusong labis na nangangamba
sa Diyos lamang makakamtan ang pag-asa
Huwag mabalisa sa anomang bagay
Idulog ang lahat sa Diyos na tunay
pusong nagsasamong may pasasalamat
at taimtim na panalangin ay sapat
Kapayapaan ng Diyos ay mapapasa-atin
kapayapaang higit pa sa ating naisin
sa Kanya lamang tayo manangan
at tayo’y Kanyang gagabayan magpakailanman
Sa kahirapan man o kasaganahan
ilagak ang lahat sa Kanya paanan
Sa panalangin tayo’y manatili
dahil pangako ng Diyos, Siya’y maghahari
1. I John 1:9 is never a license to sin! Galatians 6:1 also tells us that after we have received forgiveness of sins through Christ, God forbids that we still live in sin. Pastor Telan, in our ROMANS AND GALATIANS class, said “A Christian can sin, but a Christian does not LIVE in sin”.
2. SIN ALWAYS HAS CONSEQUENCES. I’ve read it in “Lies Women Believe”, posted it on my closet door, printed a small copy that I could keep in my wallet for remembrance and I’m sharing it with all of you:
A. Sin steals joy
“ Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me” Psalm 51:12.
B. Sin removes confidence
“ This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God” 1 John 3:19-21.
C. Sin brings guilt
“ For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me” Psalm 51:3.
D. Sin quenches God’s Spirit
“ Do not put out the Spirit’s fire” 1 Thessalonians 5:19.
E. Sin brings physical damage
“ O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. For your arrows have pierced me, and your hand has come down upon me. Because of your wrath there is no health in my body; my bones have no soundness because of my sin” Psalm 38:1-3.
“ My life is consumed by anguish and my years by groaning; my strength fails because of my affliction, and my bones grow weak” Psalm 31:10.
F. Sin causes an ache in the soul
“ When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and I did not cover up my iniquity. I said ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord’—and you forgave the guilt of my sin” Psalm 32:3-5.
G. Sin breaks God’s heart
“ And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption” Ephesians 4:30.
H. Sin opens the door to other sins
“ ‘Woe to the obstinate children,’ declares the Lord, ‘to those who care out plans that are not mine, forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit, heaping sin upon sin’” Isaiah 30:1.
I. Sin breaks fellowship with God
“ Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear to dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear” Isaiah 59:1-2.
J. Sin produces fear
“ The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion” Proverbs 28:1.
K. Sin desires to control my life
“ Jesus replied, ‘ I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin’” John 8:34.
3. God remains faithful even if we aren’t. His goodness and faithfulness became clearer now that I’ve experienced His mercy. I praise the Lord for His mercy!!
Whenever I am tempted to sin, I am now reminded (more than ever) of God’s goodness, how can I betray the trust of a good God? and I will always remember the moments when I’m down and I was crying to God to restore the JOY OF MY SALVATION! This is the truth: whenever you decide to go against what God wants, the joy of that wonderful fellowship that you had with your God will be removed from you! I don’t want that to happen to me ever again! I praise the Lord for this lesson! 😀 😀
I’m ending this blog with Ephesians 4:17-32 (take note on the ones that I underlined)
17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20 But ye have not so learned Christ;
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
27 Neither give place to the devil.
28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
